Looking to serve as an editorial leader for The Journal of Pain & Symptom Management (JPSM)? The editorial leadership team is seeking a Psychosocial Editor (AE) that will be responsible for defined content areas in the Journal including curating psychosocial aspects of palliative care, including psychology, coping, behavioral interventions, and grief and bereavement.
Eligibility Requirements
- Applicants must be an active member.
- The term of the Associate Editorship is 3 years, which is automatically renewed unless rotation off the Editorial Board is requested by the EIC, the AAHPM Board, the USCPRC, or the publisher. The term is concurrent with the EIC's term.
- AE candidates should submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and one writing sample to AAHPM Staff.
- AE(s) will report to the JPSM EIC.
- The AE(s) will make a full conflict (duality) of interest disclosure annually, with updates as needed.
Job Descriptions
The new Associate Editor will be responsible for handling submitted manuscripts in the AE’s area, including identifying reviewers, making an initial recommendation, considering reviewers’ recommendations, and making a final decision in collaboration with the editor-in-chief. In addition, focused AEs will map out a strategy for their content area, identify priorities, solicit manuscripts to fill notable gaps, and encourage submissions.
Responsibilities Include:
Psychosocial Associate Editor: The Psychosocial AE will be responsible for curating JPSM’s content in psychosocial aspects of palliative care, including but not limited to psychology, coping, behavioral interventions, and grief and bereavement. The psychosocial AE will also manage other manuscripts as required by submission volumes. A strong background in these or related areas is essential, and a track record of research and/or publications is strongly preferred. Relevant clinical experience (e.g. as a psychologist or clinical social worker) is desirable.
